Local News Ecosystem Is Taking Root in Northeast Ohio
Foundation: Akron Community Foundation, Cleveland Foundation, George Gund Foundation
"Local news ecosystems" are sprouting in Northeast Ohio.
They're mostly young and fragile organizations that are trying to bring news and information to overlooked neighborhoods.
The Cleveland Foundation has funded a project on food insecurity in Cleveland.
It also is sponsoring a one-year pilot of a program to pay Greater Clevelanders to document official committee meetings of Cuyahoga County and City of Cleveland governments.
